Stacy Lampman, St. Andrew’s, Burt

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.   Galatians 5:22-23

I think about the Holy Spirit in my life like a car radio station that is not completely tuned in. I am trying to hear but there is static and it fades in and out.

I try to tune in but I am driving through a valley and it is no use. Then, just as I am ready to turn the darn thing off in frustration, I reach the crest of a hill and everything is crystal clear.

These moments of clarity, even if they are fleeting, are magnificent. What a blessing when you feel you are in tune with God and can see and hear and touch the Holy Spirit working in your life.

It is very easy to repeat gossip we heard at coffee hour, or to go on feeling wronged or underappreciated rather than letting go of our resentments. In everything we do we need to ask ourselves. . . ”Who is leading me today? Is it my pride, my fears and selfishness or is it the fruit of the Holy Spirit?” I’ll take love, joy, and peace any day!!!!
