World Refugee Day Poster Contest PDF  | Print |  E-mail
Western New York Migration Ministries is sponsoring a diocesan youth poster contest to commemorate World Refugee Day on June 20, 2008.

Entries should reflect the colorful backgrounds and cultures that refugees bring to our country and capture the strength and courage shown by these people in fleeing fear and oppression for safety and freedom. There are over 30 million refugees and forcibly displaced humans in the world today.

Entries will be judged by WNYMM and diocesan office staff. Overall design, use of color and appropriateness of theme will be considered. Three cash prizes will be awarded:

          First Place ~ $100
          Second place ~ $60
          Third place ~ $40

In addition, the first place entry will be used as the official poster for World Refugee Day. Prize money should be designated for church school funding or youth activities.

Winners will be notified by June 1, and awards will be presented at the World Refugee Day celebration on Saturday June 21. Watch for more details on that event in future Diocesan communications.

Posters submitted must measure 11” x 17”, and the name of the artist, along with the parish name and a contact phone number must be affixed to the back. Entries may be mailed or hand delivered to the offices of the Episcopal Diocese of WNY, 1114 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo NY 14209 no later than May 15, 2008. If mailing, please send to the attention of the EMM Poster Contest.

We look forward to receiving many wonderful entries from youth across the diocese.
