Convention Turns Hopeful Eye to the Future PDF  | Print |  E-mail
After more than two years of work, the diocesan Futures Committee presented a five-year diocesan revitalization plan to the 170th Diocesan Convention on Friday, October 26. In introducing the plan the Rev. Cam Miller, who co-chaired the committee with the Rev. Bob Arnold, said, "It is my hope that by the end of this presentation you will accuse The Futures Committee of 'hearing voices.' We have heard voices. The Report on the Futures Committee has your voice and my voice in it. And it has our voice."

The plan as proposed included five major areas of concentration: community; collegiality; leadership (roles, expectations and development); communication and congregational vitality. The work in each of these areas is to be shepherded by a team made of individuals throughout the diocese. An amendment proposed by youth delegates, added a sixth area, that of of the revitalization of youth and young adult ministries.
